Common Questions

Everything worth knowing before making a booking — whatever kind of event you're planning.

Booking & Availability

How far in advance should I book?

As early as possible is ideal. Weddings can book 12–18 months ahead, especially during the October–April peak season. For corporate events, private celebrations, and venue bookings, at least three months ahead is a good target, with earlier notice helpful for peak periods or larger productions. Last-minute enquiries are always welcome if the date is available.

How do I lock in my date?

Once the details are confirmed, a deposit secures the date exclusively for you. Heath will send through a simple booking agreement and everything is handled from there.

Can we have a chat before committing to a booking?

Absolutely — and it's encouraged. A quick call or email exchange helps make sure everything is the right fit for your event. There's no pressure and no obligation.

Do you travel outside of Sydney?

Yes. Heath regularly performs across the Sydney metro area, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter Valley, and South Coast. Travel further afield is also available — just get in touch with your location and it can be factored into the quote.

Music & Performance

Can you learn a specific song for our event?

Yes, and it's one of the most popular requests. For key moments like an aisle walk, first dance, awards presentation, entrance, or special dedication, Heath is happy to learn songs that aren't already in the repertoire. Just reach out as early as possible so there's plenty of time to prepare.

What styles of music do you play?

The repertoire focuses on pop, soft rock, and R&B. The full song list is on the website, and it's always growing. If there's a particular song you'd like to hear, Heath is also happy to discuss custom requests.

How long do you perform for?

Performance duration is tailored to the event. A ceremony set might run 45–60 minutes, while background music, party sets, venue performances, and corporate functions can be arranged around your schedule. Full-day wedding coverage is also available. Everything is discussed and confirmed before the event.

Can you act as MC and make announcements?

Heath can handle simple event announcements — welcoming guests, cueing the bridal party, or introducing speakers. For full MC duties across a long reception, it's worth discussing in advance so everything is planned properly.

Can you perform outdoors?

Yes, with some conditions. Outdoor performances work well in sheltered or undercover spaces. For fully exposed outdoor events, a backup plan for wet weather is recommended. Heath brings professional equipment suited to a range of venue types.

Equipment & Logistics

Do you bring your own sound equipment?

Yes — Heath arrives with a professional PA system, microphone, guitar gear, and loop station. Everything needed for a great sound is included. There's no need to coordinate separate audio hire.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes. Heath holds current public liability insurance, which many venues require. Certificates of currency can be provided to venues on request.

How much space do you need to set up?

A space of roughly 2m x 2m is comfortable for a solo acoustic setup. This is flexible depending on the venue layout. Heath is experienced performing in tight spaces and can work with most venues.

What happens if there's a technical issue on the day?

Heath carries backup equipment for exactly this reason. In the unlikely event of a technical issue, it can be resolved quickly and with minimal disruption to the event.

Do you require a smoke-free environment?

Yes. For health reasons, Heath needs to work in a smoke-free environment. Please ensure the performance area and its immediate surroundings are free from smoking and vaping, and mention this requirement to the venue or event organiser when making arrangements.

Corporate & Work Events

Can you provide music for a corporate event?

Absolutely. Heath can provide polished acoustic music for networking, arrivals, launches, dinners, awards nights, staff celebrations, and other professional events. The music can stay understated and atmospheric or build into a livelier part of the evening.

Can you work around speeches, presentations, and a run sheet?

Yes. Share the event schedule in advance and Heath can coordinate music around speakers, presentations, awards, meal service, and transitions. Simple announcements and introductions can also be included when discussed ahead of time.

Can you provide a DJ set for a corporate function?

Yes. A DJ set can be added when you want the event to move from background music into a more energetic celebration. The music can be tailored to the audience, venue, dress code, and company atmosphere.

Private Parties & Celebrations

Do you play at birthdays, engagement parties, and private dinners?

Yes. Heath performs at birthdays, engagement parties, christenings, private dinners, milestone celebrations, and other gatherings. The setup can be relaxed and conversational or more energetic as the celebration develops.

Can you cater for guests with different music tastes?

Yes. The repertoire focuses on pop, soft rock, and R&B, with enough range to suit different ages and tastes. Heath can shape the set around the atmosphere you want to create and discuss specific requests in advance.

Can we send through requests or songs we do not want played?

Of course. Share your must-play songs, special requests, and any do-not-play list before the event. This helps make the music feel personal while keeping the overall set flowing naturally.

Venues & Public Events

Can you perform at restaurants, hotels, and other venues?

Yes. Heath performs in restaurants, hotels, bars, function spaces, outdoor venues, and other public or private locations. Send through the venue details, access information, and expected audience so the right setup can be planned.

Do you offer solo, duo, and trio formats for venue bookings?

Yes. Bookings can be arranged as an acoustic soloist, duo, or trio depending on the space, audience, atmosphere, and budget. A DJ component can also be discussed for events that need a later dance-floor set.

Can you provide music for a regular venue booking or recurring event?

Ongoing venue and recurring event enquiries are welcome. Get in touch with the proposed dates, performance format, set length, and venue details so a suitable arrangement can be discussed.

Weddings Specifically

What if Heath is sick or can't make it on the day?

This is something Heath takes very seriously. In the extremely rare event of an emergency, every effort is made to find a trusted, equally qualified replacement musician. Heath maintains a network of professional musicians for exactly this situation.

Can you cover the ceremony, canapés, and reception?

Yes — full-day coverage is one of the most popular options. This typically includes the ceremony (guest entry, aisle walk, signing, recessional), canapés and drinks hour, and reception dinner sets. A DJ set for the dance floor can also be added.

Can we provide a 'do not play' list?

Of course. A do-not-play list is just as useful as a request list. Share anything that's off-limits and it won't be played.
